Then Jehoahaz sought the Lord’s favour, and the Lord heard him, for he saw the oppression the king of Aram inflicted on Israel.


Jabez called out to the God of Israel, ‘If only you would bless me, extend my border, let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience pain’.  And God granted his request.


He prayed to him, and the Lord was receptive to his prayer. He granted his request  and brought him back to Jerusalem, to his kingdom. So Manasseh came to know that the Lord is God.


As for you, if you redirect your heart and spread out your hands to him in prayer –


Will he delight  in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?


He will pray to God, and God will delight in him. That person will see his face  with a shout of joy, and God will restore his righteousness to him.


but caused the poor to cry out to him, and he heard the outcry of the needy.


if you are pure and upright, then he will move even now on your behalf and restore the home where your righteousness dwells.


When you make a vow to God,  don’t delay fulfilling it, because he does not delight in fools. Fulfil what you vow.


At that time, when you call, the  Lord will answer; when you cry out, he will say, “Here I am.” If you get rid of the yoke among you, the finger-pointing and malicious speaking,


You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.


but as for me, I will sacrifice  to you with a voice of thanksgiving. I will fulfil  what I have vowed. Salvation  belongs to the  Lord.


‘If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to keep it, because he will require it of you, and it will be counted against you as sin.
