Joab said, ‘I’m not going to waste time with you! ’ He then took three spears  in his hand and thrust them into Absalom’s chest. While Absalom was still alive in the oak tree,


ten young men who were Joab’s armour-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him, and killed him.


They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.  Then the king’s anger subsided.


For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house? ’ and ‘Where are the tents  the wicked lived in? ’


For what hope does the godless person   have when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?


so that godless men should not rule or ensnare the people.


I have seen a fool taking root, but I immediately pronounced a curse on his home.


Surely this is the joy of his way of life; yet others will sprout from the dust.


‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven,   but only the one who does the will   of my Father in heaven.


Let each person examine his own work,  and then he can take pride in himself alone, and not compare himself with someone else.


But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
