Then Bildad the Shuhite  replied:


His frame may be full of youthful vigour, but it will lie down with him in dust.


The soil on his grave is   sweet to him. Everyone follows behind him, and those who go before him are without number.


My days pass more swiftly than a weaver’s shuttle; they come to an end without hope.


As a cloud fades away and vanishes, so the one who goes down to Sheol  will never rise again.


Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.  Look how they say, “Our bones are dried up,  and our hope has perished;  we are cut off.”


I sank to the foundations of the mountains, the earth’s gates shut behind me for ever! Then you raised my life  from the Pit, Lord  my God!


Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God  who raises  the dead.
