5 Whenever a round of banqueting was over, Job would send for his children and purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for  all of them. For Job thought, ‘Perhaps my children have sinned, having cursed God in their hearts.’  This was Job’s regular practice.

So Abraham got up early in the morning,  saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He split wood for a burnt offering and set out to go to the place God had told him about.


When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time,


Then Noah built an altar to the Lord. He took some of every kind of clean animal and every kind of clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.


Elijah took twelve stones #– #according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, ‘Israel will be your name’   #– #

His sons used to take turns having banquets at their homes. They would send an invitation to their three sisters to eat and drink with them.


His wife said to him, ‘Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die! ’


Will he delight  in the Almighty? Will he call on God at all times?


When Leviathan rises, the mighty  are terrified; they withdraw because of his thrashing.


Now take seven bulls and seven rams, go to my servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. Then my servant Job will pray for you.  I will surely accept his prayer and not deal with you as your folly deserves. For you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.’


A despairing man should receive loyalty from his friends,  , even if he abandons the fear of the Almighty.


Since your children sinned against him, he gave them over to their rebellion.


Then Jethro, Moses’s father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’s father-in-law in God’s presence.

Wash the evil from your heart,   Jerusalem, so that you will be delivered. How long will you harbour malicious thoughts?


Even if these three men   #– #Noah,  Daniel,  and Job   #– #were in it, they would rescue only themselves by their righteousness.’ This is the declaration of the Lord God.


in holiness and righteousness in his presence all our days.


Will not God grant justice   to his elect   who cry out to him day and night?   Will he delay   helping them?


Now the Jewish Passover  was near, and many went up to Jerusalem  from the country to purify themselves before the Passover.


So the next day, Paul took the men, having purified himself along with them, and entered the temple, announcing the completion of the purification days when the offering would be made for each of them.


Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your heart’s intent may be forgiven.


So don’t judge  anything prematurely, before the Lord comes,  who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.


For I am jealous  for you with a godly jealousy,  because I have promised you in marriage to one husband #– #to present a pure  virgin to Christ.


Pray  at all times in the Spirit  with every prayer and request, and stay alert  with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.


‘In peace,’ he replied. ‘I’ve come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves  and come with me to the sacrifice.’  Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
