Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, ‘Am I in the place of God? He has withheld offspring  from you! ’


And now don’t be grieved or angry with yourselves for selling me here, because God sent me ahead of you to preserve life.


Perhaps the Lord will see my affliction  and restore goodness to me instead of Shimei’s curses today.’


The king did not listen to the people, because this turn of events came from the Lord   to carry out his word, which the Lord had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.


Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ‘The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good,’  for he thought, ‘Why not, if there will be peace and security during my lifetime? ’


Then the Levites #– #Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah   #– #said, ‘Stand up. Blessed be the Lord your God from everlasting to everlasting.’ Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise.


But stretch out your hand and strike  everything he owns, and he will surely curse you to your face.’


‘You speak as a foolish woman speaks,’ he told her. ‘Should we accept only good from God and not adversity? ’ Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.


If he snatches something, who can stop   him? Who can ask him, ‘What are you doing? ’


and the dust returns to the earth as it once was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.


That wealth was lost in a bad venture, so when he fathered a son, he was empty-handed.


As he came from his mother’s womb, so he will go again, naked as he came;  he will take nothing for his efforts that he can carry in his hands.


Furthermore, everyone to whom God has given riches and wealth,  he has also allowed him to enjoy them, take his reward, and rejoice in his labour.  This is a gift of God,


Therefore, in the east honour the  Lord! In the coasts and islands of the west honour the name of the  Lord, the God of Israel.


Who gave Jacob to the robber, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the  Lord? Have we not sinned against him? They were not willing to walk in his ways, and they would not listen to his instruction.


I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I am the Lord, who does all these things.


Do not both adversity and good come from the mouth of the Most High?


If a ram’s horn  is blown in a city, aren’t people afraid? If a disaster  occurs in a city, hasn’t the Lord done it?


Don’t I have the right to do what I want with what is mine? Are you jealous   because I’m generous? ”   ,


to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place.


giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,


give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will  for you in Christ Jesus.


For we brought nothing into the world, and  we can take nothing out.


Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.


See, we count as blessed those who have endured.  You have heard of Job’s endurance  and have seen the outcome that the Lord brought about #– #the Lord is compassionate and merciful.


I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty.  Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has opposed  me, and the Almighty has afflicted me? ’


The Lord brings poverty and gives wealth; he humbles and he exalts.


He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the rubbish heap. He seats them with noblemen and gives them a throne of honour. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; he has set the world on them.


So Samuel told him everything and did not hide anything from him. Eli responded, ‘He is the Lord. Let him do what he thinks is good.’
