The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.


Still, there was no one like Ahab, who devoted himself to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight, because his wife Jezebel incited him.


He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done,  for Ahab’s daughter was his wife.  He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight,


Be assured  that a wicked person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape.


However, all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, all the women standing by #– #a great assembly #– #and all the people who were living in the land of Egypt at Pathros answered Jeremiah,


But Jeremiah responded to all the people #– #the men, women, and all the people who were answering him:


The sons gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven,  , and they pour out drink offerings to other gods so that they provoke me to anger.


But if her husband cancels them on the day he hears about it, nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or her obligation, is binding. Her husband has cancelled them, and the Lord will release her.


But if her husband prohibits her when he hears about it, he will cancel her vow that is binding or the rash commitment she herself made, and the Lord will release her.
