The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,


Indeed, I am about to summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north.’ This is the Lord’s declaration. They will come, and each king will set up his throne at the entrance to Jerusalem’s gates. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.


“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I am about to repel the weapons of war in your hands,  those you are using to fight the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans  who are besieging you outside the wall, and I will bring them into the centre of this city.


Jeremiah therefore said to Zedekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “If indeed you surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon,  then you will live, this city will not be burned, and you and your household will survive.


Nebuzaradan, captain of the guards, Nebushazban the chief of staff, Nergal-sharezer the chief soothsayer, and all the captains of Babylon’s king


His horses will be so numerous that their dust will cover you. When he enters your gates as an army entering a breached city, your walls will shake from the noise of cavalry, carts, and chariots.
