What he did was evil in the Lord’s sight, so he put him to death also.


When the time of mourning ended, David had her brought to his house. She became his wife and bore him a son. However, the Lord considered what David had done to be evil.


When Jehu came out to his master’s servants, they asked, ‘Is everything all right? Why did this crazy person  come to you? ’ Then he said to them, ‘You know the sort and their ranting.’


but for the sake of the covenant the Lord had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the Lord had promised  to give a lamp  , to David and to his sons for ever.


The faithful town – what an adulteress  she has become! She was once full of justice. Righteousness once dwelt in her, but now, murderers!


to keep the poor from getting a fair trial and to deprive the needy among my people of justice, so that widows can be their spoil and they can plunder the fatherless.


those who, with their speech, accuse a person of wrongdoing, who set a trap for the one mediating at the city gate and without cause deprive the righteous of justice.


The scoundrel’s weapons are destructive; he hatches plots to destroy the needy with lies, even when the poor person says what is right.


Listen to me, you hard-hearted, far removed from justice:


‘Listen to this, house of Jacob – those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from   Judah, who swear by the name of the  Lord and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.


who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deprive the innocent of justice.


No one makes claims justly; no one pleads honestly. They trust in empty and worthless words; they conceive trouble and give birth to iniquity.


I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not hear; you did what was evil in my sight and chose what I did not delight in.’


So I will choose their punishment, and I will bring on them what they dread because I called and no one answered; I spoke and they did not listen; they did what was evil in my sight and chose what I did not delight in.


“The Lord has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada to be the chief officer  in the temple of the Lord, responsible for every madman  who acts like a prophet. You must confine him in the stocks  and an iron collar.


Therefore, declare to them, “This is the nation that would not listen to the Lord their God and would not accept discipline. Truth  has perished #– #it has disappeared from their mouths.


or subverting a person in his lawsuit   – the Lord does not approve of these things.


The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have come. Let Israel recognise it! The prophet is a fool, and the inspired man is insane, because of the magnitude of your iniquity and hostility.


They hate the one who convicts the guilty at the city gate, and they despise  the one who speaks with integrity.


Faithful people have vanished from the land; there is no one upright among the people. All of them wait in ambush to shed blood; they hunt each other with a net.


When his family  heard this, they set out to restrain him, because they said, ‘He’s out of his mind.’


Many of them were saying, ‘He has a demon  and he’s crazy. Why do you listen to him? ’


Then the Jews said, ‘Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, “If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.”


As he was saying these things in his defence, Festus exclaimed in a loud voice, ‘You’re out of your mind,  Paul! Too much study is driving you mad.’


Now Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples  of the Lord. He went to the high priest


After many days had passed, the Jews conspired to kill him,


As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.   ,


For if we are out of our mind,  it is for God; if we are in our right mind,  it is for you.
