My love is mine and I am his; he feeds among the lilies.


His mouth is sweetness. He is absolutely desirable. This is my love, and this is my friend, young women of Jerusalem.


I was sleeping, but my heart was awake. A sound! My love was knocking! Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my perfect one. For my head is drenched with dew, my hair with droplets of the night.


I am my love’s and my love is mine; he feeds among the lilies.


Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard; they have trampled my plot of land. They have turned my desirable plot into a desolate wasteland.


I planted you, a choice vine from the very best seed. How then could you turn into a degenerate, foreign vine?


‘Son of man, how does the wood of the vine,  that branch among the trees of the forest, compare to any other wood?


Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard,  , planted by the water; it was fruitful and full of branches because of abundant water.


Israel is a lush   vine; it yields fruit for itself. The more his fruit increased, the more he increased the altars. The better his land produced, the better they made the sacred pillars.


‘Listen   to another parable:   There was a landowner, who planted a vineyard, put a fence round it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower.   He leased it to tenant farmers and went away.
