Isaiah 40:26
26 Tagairtí Cros

Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs  for seasons  and for days and years.

God made the two great lights #– #the greater light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night #– #as well as the stars.

Search and read the scroll of the  Lord: Not one of them will be missing, none will be lacking its mate, because he has ordered it by my   mouth, and he will gather them by his Spirit.

This is what God, the Lord, says – who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it   –

This is what the Lord, your Redeemer  who formed you from the womb,  says: I am the Lord, who made everything; who stretched out the heavens by myself; who alone spread out the earth;

I made the earth, and created humans on it. It was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded everything in them.

I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I am the Lord, who does all these things.

‘Listen to me, Jacob, and Israel, the one called by me: I am he; I am the first, I am also the last.

My own hand founded the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summoned them, they stood up together.

Look up to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its inhabitants will die like gnats.  , But my salvation will last for ever, and my righteousness will never be shattered.

My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the  Lord’s declaration. I will look favourably on this kind of person: one who is humble,  submissive   in spirit, and trembles at my word.

When you look to the heavens and see the sun, moon, and stars #– #all the stars in the sky #– #do not be led astray to bow in worship to them and serve them.  The Lord your God has provided them for all people everywhere under heaven.
