Make holy garments  for your brother Aaron, for glory and beauty.


but he will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with a sceptre  from his mouth, and he will kill the wicked with a command  from his lips.


On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city. Salvation is established as walls and ramparts.


In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bloom and fill the whole world with fruit.


Then he will send rain for your seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food, the produce of the ground, will be rich and plentiful. On that day your cattle will graze in open pastures.


‘Heavens, sprinkle from above, and let the skies shower righteousness. Let the earth open up so that salvation will sprout and righteousness will spring up with it. I, the Lord, have created it.


He grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at him, no appearance that we should desire him.


Instead of your being deserted and hated, with no one passing through, I will make you an object of eternal pride, a joy from age to age.


All your people will be righteous; they will possess the land for ever; they are the branch I planted, the work of my   hands, so that I may be glorified.


For as the earth produces its growth, and as a garden enables what is sown to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.


‘Look, the days are coming’   #– #this is the  Lord’s declaration – ‘when I will raise up a Righteous Branch for David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.


In those days and at that time I will cause a Righteous Branch to sprout up for David, and he will administer justice and righteousness in the land.


Then the remnant of Judah #– #those going to live for a while there in the land of Egypt #– #will have no fugitive or survivor to return to the land of Judah where they are longing  to return to stay,  for they will not return except for a few fugitives.’


Those who escape the sword will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah only few in number,  and the whole remnant of Judah, the ones going to the land of Egypt to stay there for a while, will know whose word stands, mine or theirs!


I will establish for them a place renowned for its agriculture,  and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land. They will no longer endure the insults of the nations.


‘ “You, mountains of Israel, will produce your branches  and bear your fruit for my people Israel, since their arrival is near.


The survivors among them will escape and live on the mountains. Like doves of the valley, all of them will moan, each over his own iniquity.


Then everyone who calls on the name of the  Lord will be saved, for there will be an escape for those on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, as the Lord  promised, among the survivors the  Lord  calls.


In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. All the streams of Judah will flow with water, and a spring will issue from the  Lord’s house, watering the Valley of Acacias.  ,


But there will be a deliverance on Mount Zion, and it will be holy; the house of Jacob will dispossess those who dispossessed them.  ,


‘Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your colleagues sitting before you; indeed, these men are a sign that I am about to bring my servant, the Branch.


You are to tell him: This is what the Lord of Armies says: Here is a man whose name is Branch;  he will branch out from his place and build the Lord’s temple.


How lovely and beautiful! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine, the young women.


‘They will be mine,’ says the Lord of Armies,  ‘my own possession on the day I am preparing. I will have compassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.


Unless those days were cut short, no one would   be saved. But those days will be cut short because of the elect.


But be alert at all times,   praying that you may have strength   to escape   all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.’


The Word  became flesh  and dwelt  among us. We observed his glory,  the glory as the one and only  Son  from the Father, full of grace and truth.


For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’,  has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge  of God’s glory  in the face of Jesus Christ.


For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;  instead, we were eye-witnesses of his majesty.
