he uncovers their ears and terrifies them  with warnings,


The Lord said to him, ‘Who placed a mouth on humans? Who makes a person mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?


The hearing ear and the seeing eye – the Lord made them both.


On that day the deaf will hear the words of a document, and out of a deep darkness the eyes of the blind will see.


I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on paths they have not known. I will turn darkness to light in front of them and rough places into level ground. This is what I will do for them, and I will not abandon them.


‘Listen, you deaf! Look, you blind, so that you may see.


Bring out a people who are blind, yet have eyes, and are deaf, yet have ears.


You have never heard; you have never known; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew that you were very treacherous, and were known as a rebel from birth.


The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are instructed to know how to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens me each morning; he awakens my ear to listen like those being instructed.


The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I did not turn back.


Who can I speak to and give such a warning that they will listen? Look, their ear is uncircumcised,  , so they cannot pay attention. See, the word of the  Lord has become contemptible to them – they find no pleasure in it.


Then a demon-possessed man  who was blind and unable to speak was brought to him. He healed him, so that the man  could both speak and see.


The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.


The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release   to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed,


But some of them said, ‘Couldn’t he who opened the blind man’s eyes  also have kept this man from dying? ’


Jesus said, ‘I came into this world   for judgement,   in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind.’


to open their eyes   so that they may turn   from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”


for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper,  and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
