But when they went out to bury her, they did not find anything but the skull, the feet, and the hands.


His roots below dry up, and his branches above wither away.


All memory  of him perishes from the earth; he has no name anywhere.


He has no children or descendants among his people, no survivor where he used to live.


A man may father a hundred children and live for many years. No matter how long he lives,  if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial,  I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.


Oh sinful nation, people weighed down with iniquity, brood of evildoers, depraved children! They have abandoned  the  Lord; they have despised  the Holy One of Israel; they have turned their backs on him.


But he also is wise and brings disaster. He does not go back on what he says; he will rise up against the house of the wicked and against the allies of evildoers.


Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over  Israel’s young men and has no compassion on its fatherless and widows, for everyone is a godless evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. In all this, his anger has not turned away, and his hand is still raised to strike.
