After Hezekiah’s faithful deeds, King Sennacherib of Assyria came and entered Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities and intended  to break into them.


Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he planned  war on Jerusalem,


Daughter Zion  is abandoned like a shelter in a vineyard, like a shack in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.


Therefore, the Lord God of Armies says this: ‘My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria, though they strike you with a rod and raise their staff over you as the Egyptians did.


Madmenah has fled. The inhabitants of Gebim have sought refuge.


The Lord will divide  , the Gulf of Suez. He will wave his hand over the Euphrates with his mighty wind and will split it into seven streams, letting people walk through on foot.


Lift up a banner on a barren mountain. Call out to them. Signal with your hand, and they will go through the gates of the nobles.


Send lambs to the ruler of the land, from Sela in the desert to the mountain of Daughter Zion.


On that day Egypt will be like women and will tremble with fear because of the threatening hand of the Lord of Armies when he raises it against them.


In  the last days the mountain of the  Lord’s house  will be established at the top of the mountains and will be raised above the hills. All nations will stream to it,


I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to me like an Ariel.


this is the word the Lord has spoken against him: Virgin Daughter Zion despises you and scorns you; Daughter Jerusalem shakes her head behind your back.


It will pour into Judah, flood over it, and sweep through, reaching up to the neck; and its flooded banks will fill your entire land, Immanuel!


They grasp bow and javelin. They are cruel and show no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, lined up like men in battle formation against you, Daughter Zion.


For her wound is incurable and has reached even Judah; it has approached my people’s city gate, as far as Jerusalem.


For look, I am raising my hand against them, and they will become plunder for their own servants.  Then you will know that the Lord of Armies has sent me.


David went to the priest Ahimelech  at Nob.  Ahimelech was afraid to meet David, so he said to him, ‘Why are you alone and no one is with you? ’


David answered the priest Ahimelech, ‘The king gave me a mission, but he told me, “Don’t let anyone know anything about the mission I’m sending you on or what I have ordered you to do.” I have stationed my young men at a certain place.


He also struck down Nob, the city of the priests, with the sword #– #both men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen, donkeys, and sheep.


Then Doeg the Edomite,  who was in charge of Saul’s servants, answered, ‘I saw Jesse’s son come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.
