Has any of the gods of the nations ever rescued  his land from the power of the king of Assyria?


He captured the fortified cities  of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.


Their land is full of worthless idols; they worship the work of their hands, what their fingers have made.


Lord our God, lords other than you have owned   us, but we remember your name alone.


Beware that Hezekiah does not mislead you by saying, “The Lord will rescue us.”  Has any one of the gods of the nations  rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria?


They have thrown their gods into the fire, for they were not gods  but made from wood and stone  by human hands.  So they have destroyed them.


Your elder sister was Samaria,  who lived with her daughters to the north of you, and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to the south of you.
