9 Let whoever is wise  understand these things, and whoever is insightful recognise them. For the ways of the  Lord are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.

You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just? ’


Yet the righteous person will hold to his way, and the one whose hands are clean  will grow stronger.


The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the honourable, but destruction awaits evildoers.


Anyone with a wise heart is called discerning, and pleasant speech  increases learning.


The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday.


At the same time both rebels and sinners will be broken, and those who abandon the  Lord will perish.


They will not look to the altars  they made with their hands or to the Asherahs and shrines  , they made with their fingers.


The path of the righteous is level; you clear a straight path for the righteous.


You will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.


Who is the person wise enough to understand this?  Who has the Lord spoken to, that he may explain it? Why is the land destroyed and scorched like a wilderness, so that no one can pass through?


‘When they arrive there, they will remove all its  abhorrent acts  and detestable practices from it.


‘But you say, “The Lord’s way isn’t fair.”  Now listen, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?


I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean.  I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols.


Many will be purified,  cleansed, and refined,  but the wicked will act wickedly;  none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.


The righteous Lord is in her; he does no wrong. He applies his justice morning by morning; he does not fail at dawn, yet the one who does wrong knows no shame.


I will strengthen the house of Judah and deliver the house of Joseph. I will restore   them because I have compassion on them, and they will be as though I had never rejected them. For I am the Lord  their God, and I will answer them.


The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard,   a friend of tax collectors and sinners! ”   Yet wisdom is vindicated   by her deeds.’


Then Simeon blessed them and told his mother Mary, ‘Indeed, this child is destined to cause the fall and rise of many in Israel  and to be a sign that will be opposed   #– #


and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by me.’


If I had not done the works   among them that no one else has done,   they would not be guilty of sin.   Now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.


‘You are a king then? ’ Pilate asked. ‘You say that I’m a king,’ Jesus replied. ‘I was born for this, and I have come into the world   for this: to testify   to the truth.   Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.’


The one who is from God listens to God’s words. This is why you don’t listen, because you are not from God.’


Jesus said, ‘I came into this world   for judgement,   in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind.’


and said, ‘You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery, you son of the devil  and enemy of all that is right. Won’t you ever stop perverting the straight paths  of the Lord?


So then, the law is holy,  and the commandment is holy and just and good.


The Rock   #– #his work is perfect; all his ways are just. A faithful God,  without bias, he is righteous and true.


They sang the song of God’s servant Moses  and the song of the Lamb: Great and awe-inspiring are your works, Lord God, the Almighty; just and true  are your ways, King of the nations.  ,
