So the people rested on the seventh day.


On that day the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will look to him for guidance, and his resting place will be glorious.


He will enter into peace – they will rest on their beds   – everyone who lives uprightly.


She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus,  because he will save his people from their sins.’


He gave himself for us  to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession,  eager to do good works.


and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasure of sin.


So I swore in my anger, ‘They will not enter my rest.’   ,


Therefore, since the promise to enter his rest remains, let us beware  that none of you be found to have fallen short.


For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his.


For we who have believed enter the rest, in keeping with what  he has said, So I swore in my anger, ‘They will not enter my rest,’   , even though his works have been finished since the foundation of the world.


For if Joshua  had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.


Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy,  but now you have received mercy.


Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘so they will rest from their labours, since their works follow them.’


He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.  Death will be no more;  grief, crying, and pain will be no more,  because the previous things  have passed away.
