For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray,   if possible, even the elect.


Jesus replied to them, ‘Watch out that no one deceives   you.


No, new wine is put into fresh wineskins.


Men will rise up even from your own number and distort the truth to lure the disciples into following them.


‘And now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace,  which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance  among all who are sanctified.


for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking,  but righteousness, peace, and joy  in the Holy Spirit.


One person believes he may eat anything,  while one who is weak eats only vegetables.


Whoever observes the day, observes it for the honour of the Lord.  Whoever eats, eats for the Lord, since he gives thanks to God;  and whoever does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat it, and he gives thanks to God.


‘Food  is for the stomach and the stomach for food,’ and God will do away with both of them. However, the body is not for sexual immorality  but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.


Food will not bring us close to God.  We are not worse off if we don’t eat, and we are not better if we do eat.


Now it is God who strengthens us together with you in Christ, and who has anointed  us.


Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle  spirit,  , watching out for yourselves so that you won’t also be tempted.


Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching,  by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.


Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath  is coming on the disobedient  because of these things.


I am saying this so that no one will deceive you with arguments that sound reasonable.


encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.


not to be easily upset or troubled, either by a prophecy  , or by a message or by a letter supposedly from us, alleging that the day of the Lord  , has come.


Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you,  avoiding  irreverent and empty speech and contradictions from what is falsely called knowledge.


Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits  to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.


These people are dangerous reefs  at your love feasts  as they eat with you without reverence. They are shepherds who only look after themselves. They are waterless clouds carried along by winds;  trees in late autumn #– #fruitless, twice dead and uprooted.


Dear friends, although I was eager to write to you about the salvation we share,  I found it necessary to write, appealing to you to contend for the faith  that was delivered  to the saints once for all.
