You are also commanded to tell them, “Do this: take carts from the land of Egypt for your dependents and your wives and bring your father here.


Do not be concerned about your belongings, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.” ’


But when they told Jacob all that Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts that Joseph had sent to transport him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived.


Jacob left Beer-sheba. The sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the carts Pharaoh had sent to carry him,  along with their dependents and their wives.


So all the service of the Lord was established that day for observing the Passover and for offering burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord, according to the command of King Josiah.


He followed the daily requirement  for offerings according to the commandment of Moses  for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Shelters.


The entire Israelite community left the Wilderness of Sin, moving from one place to the next according to the Lord’s command. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.


Keep  the king’s command because of your oath made before God.


The Lord is just, for I have rebelled against his command. Listen, all you people; look at my pain. My young women and young men have gone into captivity.


They will come against you with an assembly of peoples and with weapons, chariots, and  carts. They will set themselves against you on every side with large and small shields and helmets. I will delegate judgement to them, and they will judge you by their own standards.


So Moses registered them in obedience to the Lord as he had been commanded:
