Isaac began to tremble uncontrollably. ‘Who was it then,’ he said, ‘who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it all before you came in, and I blessed him. Indeed, he will be blessed! ’


When they reached their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had happened to them:


Their father Jacob said to them, ‘It’s me that you make childless. Joseph is gone, and Simeon is gone. Now you want to take Benjamin. Everything happens to me! ’


Then the steward said, ‘May you be well. Don’t be afraid. Your God and the God of your father must have put treasure in your bags. I received your silver.’ Then he brought Simeon out to them.


the food at his table,  his servants’ residence, his attendants’ service and their attire, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he offered at the Lord’s temple, it took her breath away.


I opened to my love, but my love had turned and gone away. My heart sank  because he had left. I sought him, but did not find him. I called him, but he did not answer.


I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I am the Lord, who does all these things.


The Lord has done what he planned; he has accomplished his decree, which he ordained in days of old. He has demolished without compassion, letting the enemy gloat over you and exalting the horn of your adversaries.


Who is there who speaks and it happens, unless the Lord has ordained it?


‘I will put anxiety in the hearts of those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a wind-driven leaf will put them to flight, and they will flee as one flees from a sword, and fall though no one is pursuing them.


If a ram’s horn  is blown in a city, aren’t people afraid? If a disaster  occurs in a city, hasn’t the Lord done it?


People will faint from fear and expectation of the things that are coming on the world, because the powers of the heavens will be shaken.


You will find no peace among those nations, and there will be no resting place  for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despondent spirit.
