These are the family records of Jacob. At seventeen years of age, Joseph tended sheep with his brothers. The young man was working with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives,  and he brought a bad report about them to their father.


During the seven years of abundance the land produced outstanding harvests.


Although Joseph recognised his brothers, they did not recognise him.


For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there will be five more years without ploughing or harvesting.


David was thirty years old when he began his reign;  he reigned for forty years.


Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders  who had served his father Solomon when he was alive, asking, ‘How do you advise me to respond to this people? ’


But he rejected the advice of the elders who had advised him  and consulted with the young men who had grown up with him and attended him.

As he began his ministry, Jesus was about thirty years old and was thought to be the son of Joseph,  son of Heli,


Now to him  who is able to protect you from stumbling  and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish  and with great joy,


When David came to Saul  and entered his service, Saul loved him very much, and David became his armour-bearer.
