Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. And Esau determined in his heart, ‘The days of mourning for my father are approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob.’


When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not bring themselves to speak peaceably to him.


Then he had another dream and told it to his brothers. ‘Look,’ he said, ‘I had another dream, and this time the sun, moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.’


‘No, my lord. Your servants have come to buy food,’ they said.


But Judah approached him and said, ‘My lord, please let your servant speak personally to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, for you are like Pharaoh.


The blessings of your father excel the blessings of my ancestors and  the bounty of the ancient hills.  , May they rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince of his brothers.


His brothers also came to him, bowed down before him, and said, ‘We are your slaves! ’


‘Who made you a commander and judge over us? ’ the man replied. ‘Are you planning to kill me as you killed the Egyptian? ’ Then Moses became afraid and thought, ‘What I did is certainly known.’


‘But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, “We don’t want this man to rule over us.”


But he looked at them and said, ‘Then what is the meaning of this Scripture:   , The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?   ,


‘This Moses, whom they rejected when they said, Who appointed you a ruler and a judge?    #– #this one God sent as a ruler and a deliverer through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.


with the choice gifts of the land and everything in it; and with the favour of him who appeared  in the burning bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince of his brothers.


How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, who has regarded as profane  the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?


But some wicked men said, ‘How can this man save us? ’ They despised him and did not bring him a gift,  but Saul said nothing.  ,


David’s eldest brother Eliab listened as he spoke to the men, and he became angry with him.  ‘Why did you come down here? ’ he asked. ‘Who did you leave those few sheep with in the wilderness? I know your arrogance and your evil heart #– #you came down to see the battle! ’


Saul was furious and resented this song. ‘They credited tens of thousands to David,’ he complained, ‘but they only credited me with thousands. What more can he have but the kingdom? ’
