So Lot chose the entire plain of the Jordan for himself. Then Lot journeyed eastwards, and they separated from each other.


But the land was unable to support them as long as they stayed together, for they had so many possessions that they could not stay together,


And to you and your future offspring  , I will give the land where you are residing #– #all the land of Canaan #– #as a permanent possession,  and I will be their God.’


May God give you and your offspring the blessing of Abraham  so that you may possess the land where you live as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.’


For we are foreigners and temporary residents in your presence as were all our ancestors.  Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.


You must not build a house or sow seed or plant a vineyard. Those things are not for you. Rather, you must live in tents your whole life, so that you may live a long time on the soil where you stay as a resident foreigner.”


By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, co-heirs of the same promise.
