Let me go through all your sheep today and remove every sheep that is speckled or spotted, every dark-coloured sheep among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the female goats. Such will be my wages.


‘Good,’ said Laban. ‘Let it be as you have said.’


You’ve searched all my possessions! Have you found anything of yours?  Put it here before my relatives and yours, and let them decide between the two of us.


The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; he repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.


‘In the future, when your son  asks you, “What does this mean? ” say to him, “By the strength of his hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.


For our transgressions have multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us. For our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities:


The Lord will repay every man for his righteousness  and his loyalty. I wasn’t willing to lift my hand against the Lord’s anointed, even though the Lord handed you over to me today.
