He did not recognise him, because his hands were hairy like those of his brother Esau; so he blessed him.


Then he said, ‘Bring it closer to me, and let me eat some of my son’s game so that I can bless you.’ Jacob brought it closer to him, and he ate; he brought him wine, and he drank.


‘What’s the matter? ’ the king asked her. ‘Sadly, I am a widow; my husband died,’ she said.


He said to him, ‘I am also a prophet  like you. An angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord: “Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat food and drink water.” ’ The old prophet deceived him,


Your iniquity  teaches you what to say, and you choose the language of the crafty.


Truthful lips endure for ever, but a lying tongue, only a moment.


Lying lips are detestable to the  Lord, but faithful people are his delight.


Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me. Give me neither poverty nor wealth; feed me with the food I need.


These are the things you must do: Speak truth to one another; make true and sound decisions within your city gates.


Therefore, putting away  lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbour,   , because we are members of one another.


Do not lie  to one another, since you have put off  the old self  with its practices


so he pretended to be insane in their presence.  He acted like a madman around them,  scribbling  on the doors of the city gate and letting saliva run down his beard.
