From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He built an altar to the Lord there, and he called on the name of the Lord.


After they had made a covenant at Beer-sheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, left and returned to the land of the Philistines.


From there he went up to Beer-sheba,


So he built an altar there,  called on the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent there. Isaac’s servants also dug a well there.


He called it Sheba.  Therefore the name of the city is still Beer-sheba  , today.


A son was born to Seth  also, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.


The Lord will reign  for ever and ever!


Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never becomes faint or weary; there is no limit to his understanding.


For the High and Exalted One, who lives for ever, whose name is holy,  says this: ‘I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed.


But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God  and eternal King. The earth quakes at his wrath, and the nations cannot endure his fury.


Those who swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, ‘As your god lives, Dan,’ or, ‘As the way  , of Beer-sheba lives’   – they will fall, never to rise again.


Are you not from eternity, Lord  my God? My Holy One,  you   will not die. Lord, you appointed them to execute judgement; my Rock,  you destined them to punish us.


For his invisible attributes, that is, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world,  being understood through what he has made.  As a result, people are without excuse.


but now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures,  according to the command of the eternal God to advance the obedience of faith  among all the Gentiles #– #


‘Do not set up an Asherah of any kind of wood next to the altar you will build for the Lord your God,


I raise my hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live for ever,


The God of old is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He drives out the enemy before you and commands, ‘Destroy! ’


Now to the King  eternal,  immortal,  invisible, the only  God,  be honour  and glory  for ever and ever. Amen.


Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and for ever.


The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight; they forgot the Lord their God  and worshipped the Baals and the Asherahs.
