In spite of all that, the Lord did not turn from the fury of his intense burning anger, which burned against Judah because of all the affronts with which Manasseh had angered him.


Listen to me and return the captives you took from your brothers,  for the Lord’s burning anger is on you.’


It is in my heart now to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel  so that his burning anger may turn away from us.


Don’t become obstinate  , now as your ancestors did. Give your allegiance  to the Lord, and come to his sanctuary that he has consecrated for ever. Serve the Lord your God so that he may turn his burning anger away from you,


But there are many people, and it is the rainy season. We don’t have the stamina to stay out in the open. This isn’t something that can be done in a day or two, for we have rebelled terribly in this matter.


Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah opposed this, with Meshullam  and Shabbethai the Levite supporting them.


On that day you will say: ‘I will give thanks to you, Lord, although you were angry with me. Your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me.


The Lord said to Moses, ‘Take all the leaders of the people and execute  them in broad daylight before the Lord so that his burning anger may turn away from Israel.’
