The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day.  This was the appearance of the likeness of the Lord’s glory.  When I saw it, I fell face down and heard a voice speaking.


‘Now you, son of man, get your bags ready for exile and go into exile in their sight during the day. You will go into exile from your place to another place while they watch; perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house.


‘Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who  are prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination,  “Hear the word of the Lord!


‘Son of man, suppose a land sins against me by acting faithlessly, and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its supply of bread,  to send famine through it, and to wipe out both people and animals from it.


‘Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put their sinful stumbling blocks in front of themselves.  Should I actually let them enquire of me?


‘Son of man, how does the wood of the vine,  that branch among the trees of the forest, compare to any other wood?


‘Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her detestable practices.


‘Son of man, pose a riddle and speak a parable to the house of Israel.


He said to me, ‘Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to  the rebellious pagans who have rebelled against me. The Israelites and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this day.


‘But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them and do not be afraid of their words,  even though briars and thorns are beside you and you live among scorpions.  Don’t be afraid of their words or discouraged by the look on their faces, for they are a rebellious house.


‘And you, son of man, listen to what I tell you: Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.’


‘Son of man, speak with the elders of Israel and tell them, “This is what the Lord God says: Are you coming to enquire of me? As I live, I will not let you enquire of me.  This is the declaration of the Lord God.”


He said to me, ‘Son of man, eat what you find here. Eat this scroll,  then go and speak to the house of Israel.’


Next he said to me, ‘Son of man, listen carefully to all my words that I speak to you and take them to heart.


‘Son of man, I have made you a watchman over the house of Israel.  When you hear a word from my mouth, give them a warning from me.


Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.


Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live? ’ I replied, ‘Lord God, only you know.’


‘Now you, son of man, take a brick, set it in front of you, and draw the city of Jerusalem on it.


He spoke to me: ‘Son of man, look with your eyes, listen with your ears,  and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for you have been brought here so that I might show it to you. Report everything you see to the house of Israel.’


Then he said to me, ‘Son of man,  this is what the Lord God says: These are the statutes for the altar on the day it is constructed, so that burnt offerings  may be sacrificed on it and blood may be splattered on it:


‘Now you, son of man, take a sharp sword,  use it as you would a barber’s razor, and shave your head and beard. Then take a set of scales and divide the hair.


‘Son of man, this is what the Lord God says to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come on the four corners of the earth.


He said to me, ‘Daniel, you are a man treasured by God.  , Understand the words that I’m saying to you. Stand on your feet,  for I have now been sent to you.’  After he said this to me, I stood trembling.


He said, ‘Don’t be afraid,  you who are  treasured by God.  Peace to you; be very strong! ’ As he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, ‘Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.’


So he approached where I was standing; when he came near, I was terrified and fell face down.  ‘Son of man,’ he said to me, ‘understand that the vision refers to the time of the end.’


Jesus came up, touched them, and said, ‘Get up; don’t be afraid.’


No one has ascended   into heaven   except the one who descended from heaven   #– #the Son of Man.   ,


For God loved   the world in this way:   He gave   his one and only   Son,   so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.


But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.


‘But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.’
