So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the Lord sent an east wind over the land all that day and through the night. By morning the east wind had brought in the locusts.


And take this staff in your hand that you will perform the signs with.’


The Lord asked him, ‘What is that in your hand? ’ ‘A staff,’ he replied.


So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took God’s staff  in his hand.


‘Throw it on the ground,’ he said. So Moses threw it on the ground, it became a snake, and he ran from it.


The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,


So Moses stretched out his staff towards heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail.  Lightning struck the land, and the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt.


‘Ask for a sign  from the Lord your God #– #it can be as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.’


Speak to him and say, “This is what the Lord God says: Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster  , lying in the middle of his Nile, who says, ‘My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.’


He answered them,  ‘An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.


But if I am doing them and you don’t believe me, believe the works. This way you will know and understand   that the Father is in me and I in the Father.’


So the Jews replied to him, ‘What sign will you show us for doing these things? ’


‘What sign, then, are you going to do so that we may see and believe you? ’ they asked. ‘What are you going to perform?
