What is a mere human, that you think so highly of him and pay so much attention to him?


But the magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their occult practices. So Pharaoh’s heart was hard, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.


All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink because they could not drink the water from the river.


Those among Pharaoh’s officials who feared the word of the Lord made their servants and livestock flee to shelters,


but those who didn’t take to heart the Lord’s word left their servants and livestock in the field.


Listen closely,  pay attention to the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge.


I saw, and took it to heart; I looked, and received instruction:


Happy is the one who is always reverent, but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.


One who becomes stiff-necked, after many reprimands will be shattered instantly – beyond recovery.


Lord, your hand is lifted up to take action, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame. Let fire consume your adversaries.


You said, “I will be the queen for ever.” You did not take these things to heart or think about their outcome.


As they heard all these words, the king and all his servants did not become terrified  or tear their clothes.


Lord, don’t your eyes look for faithfulness? You have struck them, but they felt no pain. You finished them off, but they refused to accept discipline. They made their faces harder than rock, and they refused to return.


He spoke to me: ‘Son of man, look with your eyes, listen with your ears,  and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for you have been brought here so that I might show it to you. Report everything you see to the house of Israel.’


Look at the nations  , and observe   – be utterly astounded! For I am doing something in your days that you will not believe when you hear about it.


If you don’t listen, and if you don’t take it to heart  to honour my name,’ says the Lord of Armies, ‘I will send a curse among you, and I will curse your blessings.  In fact, I have already begun to curse them because you are not taking it to heart.


he said to them, ‘Take to heart all these words I am giving as a warning to you today,  so that you may command your children to follow all the words of this law carefully.


As she was dying,  the women taking care of her said, ‘Don’t be afraid. You’ve given birth to a son! ’  But she did not respond or pay attention.
