Abraham agreed with Ephron, and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver that he had agreed to in the hearing of the Hethites: four hundred standard shekels  of silver.


‘God has given me a good gift,’ Leah said. ‘This time my husband will honour me because I have borne six sons for him,’ and she named him Zebulun.


Demand of me a high compensation  and gift; I’ll give you whatever you ask me. Only give the girl to be my wife! ’


‘Whoever turns to mediums  , or spiritists  and prostitutes himself with them, I will turn against that person and cut him off from his people.

the man who raped her is to give the young woman’s father fifty silver shekels, and she will become his wife because he violated her.  He cannot divorce her as long as he lives.


Then Saul replied, ‘Say this to David: “The king desires no other bride-price  except a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.” ’  Actually, Saul intended to cause David’s death at the hands of the Philistines.


By this time Samuel had died,  all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in Ramah, his city,  and Saul had removed the mediums and spiritists from the land.
