Sarah said, ‘God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.’  ,


As the ark of the Lord was entering the city of David,  Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.


Then the prophetess Miriam,  Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women came out following her with tambourines and dancing.


a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;


In the day of prosperity be joyful,  but in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one as well as the other,  so that no one can discover anything that will come after him.


‘Comfort, comfort my people,’ says your God.


‘Speak tenderly to   Jerusalem, and announce to her that her time of hard service is over, her iniquity  has been pardoned, and she has received from the  Lord’s hand double for all her sins.’


We played the flute for you, but you didn’t dance; we sang a lament, but you didn’t mourn!


Jesus said to them, ‘Can the wedding guests   be sad while the groom is with them? The time   will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.


Then her neighbours and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her his great mercy,  and they rejoiced with her.


Rejoice with those who rejoice;  weep with those who weep.


For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.


Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
