He also  removed his grandmother  Maacah from being queen mother because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. Asa chopped down her obscene image and burned it  in the Kidron Valley.


He tore down the altars, and he smashed the Asherah poles and the carved images to powder. He chopped down all the shrines throughout the land of Israel and returned to Jerusalem.


He took the calf they had made, burned it up, and ground it to powder. He scattered the powder over the surface of the water and forced the Israelites to drink the water.


Then you will defile your silver-plated idols and your gold-plated images. You will throw them away like menstrual cloths, and call them filth.


For on that day, every one of you will reject the worthless idols of silver and gold that your own hands have sinfully made.


When Ephraim multiplied his altars for sin, they became his altars for sinning.


All her carved images will be smashed  to pieces; all her wages  will be burned in the fire, and I will destroy all her idols. Since she collected the wages of a prostitute, they will be used again for a prostitute.


The Lord was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him. But I prayed for Aaron at that time also.
