When they  were few in number, very few indeed,  and resident foreigners in Canaan


Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who gave birth to you. When I called him, he was only one; I blessed him and made him many.


In all their suffering, he suffered,  , and the angel of his presence saved them. He redeemed them because of his love and compassion; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of the past.


Say to them, “This is what the Lord God says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore an oath  , to the descendants of Jacob’s house and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt. I swore to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’


‘Therefore, say to the house of Israel, “This is what the Lord God says: It is not for your sake that I will act,  house of Israel, but for my holy name,  which you profaned among the nations where you went.


How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.


Don’t be afraid,   little flock,   because your Father delights   to give you the kingdom.


Now if by grace,  then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.


So then, he has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy and he hardens whom he wants to harden.


Or has the potter no right over the clay,  to make from the same lump one piece of pottery for honour and another for dishonour?


The Lord your God has so multiplied you that today you are as numerous as the stars of the sky.


Your ancestors went down to Egypt, seventy people in all,  and now the Lord your God has made you numerous, like the stars of the sky.


for you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be his own possession  out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.


Because he loved  your ancestors, he chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by his presence and great power,


See what great love  the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children #– #and we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn’t know him.


Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us  and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice  , for our sins.
