21 And when many troubles and afflictions come to them, this song will testify against them, because  their descendants will not have forgotten it. For I know what they are prone to do,  even before I bring them into the land I swore to give them.’

When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time,


When the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma,  he said to himself, ‘I will never again curse the ground  because of human beings, even though the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth onward.  And I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.


‘As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind,  for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought.  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you for ever.


I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: my plan will take place, and I will do all my will.


I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me. For now, Ephraim, you have acted promiscuously; Israel is defiled.


and I acted with hostility towards them and brought them into the land of their enemies #– #and when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled  and they make amends for their iniquity,


Though he was delivered up according to God’s determined plan and foreknowledge, you used  lawless people to nail him to a cross and kill him.


to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place.


I tell you today that you will certainly perish and will not prolong your days in the land you are entering to possess across the Jordan.


Moses then summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you will go with  this people into the land the Lord swore to give to their ancestors.  You will enable them to take possession of it.


When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, in the future you will return to the Lord your God and obey him.
