during that time the Lord had spoken through Isaiah  son of Amoz, saying, ‘Go, take off your sackcloth from your waist and remove the sandals from your feet,’ and he did that, going stripped and barefoot   #– #


I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.


The Lord answered Moses, ‘If her father had merely spat in her face, wouldn’t she remain in disgrace for seven days? Let her be confined outside the camp  for seven days;  after that she may be brought back in.’


Then they spat in his face  and beat him; others slapped him


Then they spat on him, took the staff, and kept hitting him on the head.


He proclaimed, ‘One who is more powerful  than I am is coming after me.  I am not worthy  to stoop down and untie the strap of his sandals.


and they will mock him, spit on him, flog   him, and kill him, and he will rise   after three days.’


He is the one coming after me,  , whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to untie.’


And his family name in Israel will be “The house of the man whose sandal was removed.”


The elders of his city will summon him and speak with him. If he persists and says, “I don’t want to marry her,”


The redeemer replied, ‘I can’t redeem it myself, or I will ruin my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption, because I can’t redeem it.’


‘Therefore, this is the declaration of the Lord, the God of Israel: “I did say that your family and your forefather’s family would walk before me for ever.  But now,” this is the Lord’s declaration, “no longer! For those who honour me I will honour,  but those who despise me will be disgraced.
