Indeed, I let all his ordinances  guide me and have not disregarded his statutes.


‘ “However, I will not take the whole kingdom from him but will let him be ruler all the days of his life for the sake of my servant David, whom I chose and who kept my commands and my statutes.


I will give one tribe  to his son,  so that my servant David will always have a lamp  before me  in Jerusalem, the city I chose for myself to put my name there.


Abijam walked in all the sins his father before him had committed,  and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord his God as his ancestor David had been.


For David did what was right in the Lord’s sight, and he did not turn aside from anything he had commanded him all the days of his life,  except in the matter of Uriah  the Hethite.


and keep your obligation to the Lord your God to walk in his ways and to keep his statutes, commands, ordinances, and decrees. This is written in the law of Moses, so that you will have success in everything you do  and wherever you turn,

But when he became strong, he grew arrogant,  and it led to his own destruction. He acted unfaithfully against the Lord his God by going into the Lord’s sanctuary to burn incense on the incense altar.


When he was in distress, he sought the favour of the Lord his God and earnestly humbled himself  before the God of his ancestors.


His prayer and how God was receptive to his prayer, and all his sin and unfaithfulness and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and carved images before he humbled himself, they are written in the Events of Hozai.


But he did not humble himself before the Lord like his father Manasseh humbled himself;  instead, Amon increased his guilt.


because  your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants, and because you humbled yourself before me, and you tore your clothes and wept before me, I myself have heard” #– #this is the Lord’s declaration.


The fear of the  Lord prolongs life,  , but the years of the wicked are cut short.


for wealth is not for ever; not even a crown lasts for all time.


However, it will not go well with the wicked,  and they will not lengthen their days like a shadow,  for they are not reverent before God.


For a day belonging to the  Lord of Armies is coming against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up #– #it will be humbled –


Look, his ego is inflated; he is without integrity. But the righteous one will live by his faith.  ,


especially because of the extraordinary revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh  was given to me, a messenger of Satan  to torment me so that I would not exalt myself.


Do not eat it, so that you and your children after you will prosper, because you will be doing what is right in the Lord’s sight.


Be careful to obey all these things I command you, so that you and your children after you may prosper for ever, because you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.


Be careful to do everything I command you; do not add anything to it or take anything away from it.


You must abide by the instruction they give you and the verdict they announce to you. Do not turn to the right or the left from the decision they declare to you.


You must not add anything to what I command you or take anything away from it,  so that you may keep the commands of the Lord your God I am giving you.


‘Be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you are not to turn aside to the right or the left.


Remember that the Lord your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.


In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. All of you clothe yourselves with  humility towards one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,


Samuel proclaimed to the people the rights of kingship.  He wrote them on a scroll, which he placed in the presence of the Lord.  Then Samuel sent all the people home.


For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and defiance is like wickedness  and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the  Lord, he has rejected you as king.
