Genuine righteousness leads to life, but pursuing evil leads to death.


‘Suppose a man is righteous and does what is just and right:


He follows my statutes and keeps my ordinances, acting faithfully. Such a person is righteous; he will certainly live.’  This is the declaration of the Lord God.


Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the  Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.

‘Do not set up an Asherah of any kind of wood next to the altar you will build for the Lord your God,


‘Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances  I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live,  enter, and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors,  is giving you.
