16 However, I have heard about you that you can give interpretations and solve problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain round your neck, and have the third highest position in the kingdom.’

‘We had dreams,’ they said to him, ‘but there is no one to interpret them.’ Then Joseph said to them, ‘Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.’


Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘I have had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said about you that you can hear a dream and interpret it.’


Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, clothed him with fine linen garments, and placed a gold chain round his neck.


Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many generous gifts. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.


But if you make the dream and its interpretation known to me, you’ll receive gifts, a reward, and great honour from me.  So make the dream and its interpretation known to me.’


Then Belshazzar gave an order, and they clothed Daniel in purple, placed a gold chain round his neck,  and issued a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.


The king shouted to bring in the mediums, Chaldeans, and diviners. He said to these wise men of Babylon, ‘Whoever reads this inscription and gives me its interpretation will be clothed in purple, have a gold chain round his neck,  and have the third highest position in the kingdom.’


and over them three administrators, including Daniel.  These satraps would be accountable to them so that the king would not be defrauded.


When Simon saw that the Spirit  was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
