Meanwhile, the Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and the captain of the guards.


Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards,  deported the rest of the people to Babylon #– #those who had remained in the city and those deserters who had defected to him along with the rest of the people who remained.


On the tenth day of the fifth month #– #which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon #– #Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, entered Jerusalem as the representative of  the king of Babylon.


The whole Chaldean army with the captain of the guards tore down all the walls surrounding Jerusalem.


He asked Arioch, the king’s officer, ‘Why is the decree from the king so harsh? ’  , Then Arioch explained the situation to Daniel.


Therefore Daniel went to Arioch,  whom the king had assigned to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He came and said to him, ‘Don’t destroy the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the interpretation.’
