17 He will resolve  to come with the force of his whole kingdom and will reach an agreement with him.  He will give him a daughter in marriage  to destroy it,  but she will not stand with him or support him.

At that time King Hazael  of Aram marched up and fought against Gath and captured it. Then he planned to attack Jerusalem.


Jehoshaphat was afraid, and he resolved  to seek the Lord. Then he proclaimed a fast  for all Judah,


Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the  Lord’s decree will prevail.


Pharaoh with his mighty army and vast company will not help him in battle,  when ramps are built and siege walls constructed to destroy many lives.


‘Son of man, face the Ammonites and prophesy against them.


Take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between yourself and the city. Face it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This will be a sign for the house of Israel.


Face the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared, and prophesy against it.


He will turn his attention back to the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble, fall,  and be no more.


After those sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the coming ruler will destroy the city  and the sanctuary. The  end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be   war; desolations are decreed.


All of them come to do violence; their faces  are set in determination. They gather  prisoners like sand.


Anyone who is not with me is against me,   and anyone who does not gather with me scatters.


Anyone who is not with me is against me,   and anyone who does not gather with me scatters.


When the days were coming to a close for him to be taken up,  he determined  , to journey to Jerusalem.


What, then, are we to say about these things?  If God is for us, who is against us?
