He announced, ‘May God punish me and do so severely  if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders today.’


join with their noble brothers and commit themselves with a sworn oath  , to follow the law of God given through God’s servant Moses  and to obey carefully all the commands, ordinances, and statutes of the Lord our Lord.


When Mordecai learned of the plot, he reported it to Queen Esther, and she told the king on Mordecai’s behalf.


for I was like a docile   lamb led to slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plots against me: ‘Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit; let’s cut him off from the land of the living so that his name will no longer be remembered.’


This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “As for you and your wives, you women have spoken with your mouths, and you men fulfilled it by your deeds, saying, ‘We will keep our vows that we have made to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings for her.’ Go ahead, confirm your vows! No person who has been set apart for destruction is to be ransomed; he must be put to death.


and they conspired to arrest Jesus in a treacherous way and kill him.


Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath, ‘I don’t know the man! ’ Immediately a cock crowed,


All the people answered, ‘His blood be on us  and on our children! ’


There were more than forty who had formed this plot.


These men went to the chief priests and elders and said, ‘We have bound ourselves under a solemn curse that we won’t eat anything until we have killed Paul.


Don’t let them persuade you, because there are more than forty of them lying in ambush #– #men who have bound themselves under a curse not to eat or drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, waiting for your consent.’


When I was informed that there was a plot against the man,  , I sent him to you straight away. I also ordered his accusers  to state their case against him in your presence.


asking for a favour against Paul, that Festus summon him to Jerusalem. They were, in fact, preparing an ambush along the road to kill him.


After many days had passed, the Jews conspired to kill him,


but Saul learned of their plot. So they were watching the gates day and night intending to kill him,


If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Our Lord, come!


On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers,  dangers from my own people,  dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers;


Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us,  because it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.   ,


by keeping us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. As a result, they are constantly filling up their sins to the limit,  and wrath has overtaken them at last.


At that time Joshua imposed this curse: The man who undertakes the rebuilding of this city, Jericho, is cursed before the  Lord. He will lay its foundation at the cost of his firstborn; he will finish its gates at the cost of his youngest.


The Israelites, however, were unfaithful  regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the Lord’s anger burned against the Israelites.


The one who is caught with the things set apart must be burned, along with everything he has, because he has violated the Lord’s covenant and committed an outrage in Israel.’


and the men of Israel were worn out that day, for Saul had  placed the troops under an oath:  ‘The man who eats food before evening, before I have taken vengeance on my enemies is cursed.’ So none of the troops tasted any food.
