Ahab told Jezebel  everything that Elijah had done  and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.


He replied, ‘I have been very zealous  for the Lord God of Armies, but the Israelites have abandoned your covenant,  torn down your altars,  and killed your prophets  with the sword. I alone am left,  and they are looking for me to take my life.’


They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who executed him with the sword and threw his corpse into the burial place of the common people.


He told them, ‘You will indeed drink my cup,   but to sit at my right and left is not mine to give; instead, it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.’


James  and John,  the sons of Zebedee,  approached him and said, ‘Teacher,  we want you to do whatever we ask you.’


Jesus said to them, ‘You don’t know what you’re asking.   Are you able to drink the cup   I drink or to be baptised with the baptism   I am baptised with? ’


‘We are able,’ they told him. Jesus said to them, ‘You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptised with the baptism I am baptised with.


About that time King Herod violently attacked some who belonged to the church,


They were stoned,  , they were sawn in two, they died by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins,  destitute, afflicted, and mistreated.
