When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? ’


And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, ‘This man welcomes sinners  and eats with them.’


Then  they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters.  It was early morning. They did not enter the headquarters themselves; otherwise they would be defiled and unable to eat the Passover.


Peter then invited them in and gave them lodging. The next day he got up and set out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.


Peter said to them, ‘You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner,  but God has shown me that I must not call any person impure or unclean.


Therefore send someone to Joppa and invite Simon here, who is also named Peter. He is lodging in Simon the tanner’s house by the sea.”


He commanded them to be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ.  Then they asked him to stay for a few days.


But actually, I wrote  you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister  and is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard  or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.


For he usually ate with the Gentiles before certain men came from James. However, when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he feared those from the circumcision party.


If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive  him into your home, and do not greet him;
