Then the priest Ezra stood up and said to them, ‘You have been unfaithful by marrying foreign women, adding to Israel’s guilt.


Ephraim chases  the wind and pursues the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and violence. He makes a covenant with Assyria, and olive oil is carried to Egypt.


Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good morals.’


Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven  , leavens the whole batch of dough?


We know that the law is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious,  for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and irreverent, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers,


But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths.  Rather, train yourself in godliness.


Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you,  avoiding  irreverent and empty speech and contradictions from what is falsely called knowledge.


Remind them of these things, and charge them before God  not to fight about words.  This is useless and leads to the ruin of those who listen.


So if anyone purifies himself from anything dishonourable,  he will be a special  instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.


Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving  and being deceived.


It is necessary to silence them; they are ruining entire households by teaching what they shouldn’t in order to get money dishonestly.


and may not pay attention to Jewish myths  and the commands of people who reject the truth.


But avoid foolish debates,  genealogies,  quarrels,  and disputes about the law, because they are unprofitable and worthless.


Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many.


For by uttering boastful, empty words,  they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped  from those who live in error.


Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them.


It deceives those who live on the earth  because of the signs that it is permitted to perform in the presence of the beast,  telling those who live on the earth to make an image  of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.


One of its heads appeared to be fatally wounded, but its fatal wound was healed. The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast.
