Abner was very angry about Ish-bosheth’s accusation. ‘Am I a dog’s head  , who belongs to Judah? ’ he asked. ‘All this time I’ve been loyal to the family of your father Saul, to his brothers, and to his friends and haven’t betrayed you to David, but now you accuse me of wrongdoing with this woman!


Hazael said, ‘How could your servant, a mere dog,  do such a mighty deed? ’ Elisha answered, ‘The Lord has shown me that you will be king over Aram.’


So don’t let my blood fall to the ground far from the Lord’s presence, for the king of Israel has come out to search for a single flea,  like one who pursues a partridge in the mountains.’
