Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, a son of David’s brother Shimeah.  Jonadab was a very shrewd man,


At Gath there was still another battle. A huge man was there with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot #– #twenty-four in all. He, too, was descended from the giant.


These four were descended from the giant in Gath and were killed by David and his soldiers.


Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of  Sepharvaim, Hena, or Ivvah? ” ’


Jesse fathered Eliab, his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third,


David’s uncle Jonathan was a counsellor; he was a man of understanding and a scribe. Jehiel son of Hachmoni attended  the king’s sons.


Then Jesse presented Shammah,  but Samuel said, ‘The Lord hasn’t chosen this one either.’


Then the Philistine said, ‘I defy the ranks of Israel today.  Send me a man so we can fight each other! ’


The Philistines were standing on one hill, and the Israelites were standing on another hill with a ravine between them.


Your servant has killed lions and bears; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.’
