Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel of Beth-maacah. All the Berites  came together and followed him.


Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked Ijon,  Dan,  Abel-beth-maacah,  all Chinnereth,  and the whole land of Naphtali.


In the days of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath-pileser  of Assyria came and captured Ijon,  Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee #– #all the land of Naphtali   #– #and deported the people to Assyria.


Therefore, this is what the  Lord says about the king of Assyria: He will not enter this city, shoot an arrow here, come before it with a shield, or build up a siege ramp against it.


There was a small city with few men in it. A great king came against it, surrounded it, and built large siege works against it.


‘Therefore, this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: He will not enter this city, shoot an arrow here, come before it with a shield, or build up a siege ramp against it.


Look! Siege ramps  have come against the city to capture it, and the city, as a result of the sword, famine, and plague, has been handed over to the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What you have spoken has happened. Look, you can see it!


For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the houses of this city and the palaces of Judah’s kings, the ones torn down for defence against the assault ramps and the sword:


For this is what the Lord of Armies says: Cut down the trees; raise a siege ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished. There is nothing but oppression within her.


Then lay siege against it:  Construct a siege wall, build a ramp, pitch military camps, and place battering rams against it on all sides.


For the days will come on you   when your enemies will build a barricade round you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.
