the watchman saw another man running. He called out to the gatekeeper, ‘Look! Another man is running alone! ’ ‘This one is also bringing good news,’ said the king.


The gatekeepers called out, and the news was reported to the king’s household.


Then they said to each other, ‘We’re not doing what is right. Today is a day of good news.  If we are silent and wait until morning light, our punishment will catch up with us. So let’s go and tell the king’s household.’


With them were their relatives second in rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel,  Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Jeiel.


He assigned Obed-edom  and his  sixty-eight relatives. Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah  were to be gatekeepers.


He stationed gatekeepers  at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that nothing unclean could enter for any reason.
