‘Show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite and let them be among those who eat at your table  because they supported me when I fled from your brother Absalom.


There was, in fact, a command of the king regarding them, and an ordinance regulating the singers’  daily tasks.


So in the days of Zerubbabel  and Nehemiah,  all Israel contributed the daily portions  for the singers and gatekeepers. They also set aside daily portions for the Levites, and the Levites set aside daily portions  for Aaron’s descendants.


I will hurl you and the mother who gave birth  to you into another land,  where neither of you were born, and there you will both die.


As for his allowance, a regular allowance was given to him by the king of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, for the rest of his life.


The king assigned them daily provisions from the royal food and from the wine that he drank.  They were to be trained for three years, and at the end of that time they were to attend the king.  ,
